Alliant Power AP63456 Exhaust Recirculation (EGR) Valve Replacement Instructions

Replacement Instructions

“All 6.4L Power Stroke engines built after 11/24/2008 are equipped with an EGR Valve that is no longer water cooled. Figure 1 shows an early style EGR Valve that incorporates the cooling circuit and Figure 2 shows the new, updated style EGR Valve with no cooling circuit. All AP63456 EGR Valves are the new style with no coolant line connections and are to be used on all 6.4L models.

***For trucks built before 11/24/2008***

After installation of the new EGR Valve, remove 9 inches from the coolant line that originally fed the EGR Valve as shown in Figure 1. Next relocate the cut end of the hose to the location shown in Figure 2. The remaining hose shown in Figure 1 should be removed and discarded.”

Jimmy Finch has over 33 years of experience in Diesel Engine Sales, Service and Repair. His experience started early in life at Texas Fuel Injection Service (an early acquisition of M&D) as a job with a means to an end. Somewhere in that 33 years this job turned into a fulfilling career. He started in the injector clean up department and has held practically every position leading up to his current role as Branch Manager of the Dallas, Texas location.

In his spare time, Jimmy enjoys spending time with his wife of 24 years, Priscilla. They are currently getting ready to make their way into the empty-nesters stage of life. He also enjoys the occasional hunting trip with friends and family and chasing down potential customers by the names off their trucks.
