Stanadyne Flat Cover Gasket & Governor Covers

Stanadyne Service Bulletin 571

Stanadyne has introduced a new governor cover gasket (Figure 1 in PDF) along with a series of new governor covers without a groove (Figure 2 in PDF) that are designed to accept this flat gasket. The new 42696 gasket has three plastic tree type fasteners that are designed to snap into three holes which are machined into the governor cover as shown in Figure 3 in PDF. This new cover design has been implemented to improve the production assembly process.

As part of this changeover, all governor covers come with 7/16-20 threads for the return line connector. Pump models that previously used a 1/8 NPTF return line connector including part numbers (13265, 16800, 17358) will require a 21250 adaptor in order to mate to the new governor cover as illustrated in Figure 4. A slight re-bend or modification of the return line may be necessary due to the added height of the connector. In addition, all covers come with two holes for the installation of solenoids. For applications that do not require an E.S.O. there are also new cover assemblies available that include the hardware which plug these E.S.O. holes. Reference the chart on the following page for details on which cover is required to supersede the existing cover.

Note: The 42696 governor cover gasket is packaged with all new governor covers for prompt service and it is also available separately in package quantities of 10 pieces.
