Description

Gen 1 & Gen 2

Revised front cover assembly part numbers have been released. These new part numbers are to be used when ordering replacement front cover assemblies (front and rear).

Gen 3 (New)

A new front engine cover assembly (front and rear) is required to incorporate changes to the oil pump housing assembly.

A new oil pump housing assembly has been designed. The new design uses a Stat-O-Seal® bolt at the 12 o’clock position and a dowel pin at the 2 o’clock position on the housing flange.

A new oil pump plate accommodates the changes of the new oil pump housing and front cover assembly. The new plate includes an integral seal to seal between the front cover and the pump housing.

Serviceability Effects

Note:

When a Thredseal® or Stat-O-Seal® bolt is removed, it must be discarded. Always use a new Thredseal® or Stat-O-Seal® bolt during assembly.

Gen 1 & Gen 2

The Gen 1 to Gen 2 front cover design change affects only International® DT 466, DT 570 and HT 570 models. Transition to Gen 2 design occurred as a production running change for this engine family. Identify the model of the engine in addition to visually inspecting the front cover before ordering replacement parts. Refer to Front Cover Design Changes on page 3 for identification information.

The Gen 1 and Gen 2 front cover assemblies are unique and are not interchangeable.

Note:

Some Gen 2 front covers are equipped with a sound shield. When replacing a Gen 2 front cover equipped with a sound shield, replace it only with cover (P/N 1881728C91) equipped with a sound shield, to ensure noise reduction requirements are maintained.

If the rear half of the Gen 1 front cover assembly needs replacement, the complete Gen 1 front cover assembly must be replaced with a Gen 2 front cover assembly. The rear half of the Gen 1 front cover assembly will not be available for service.

Gen 3 (New)

The Gen 2 to Gen 3 front cover design change affects only International® MaxxForce® DT, 9, and 10 engines. Transition to Gen 3 design occurred as a production running change for this engine family.

The Gen 3 front cover assembly is not interchangeable with previous designs. The Gen 3 oil pump housing and oil pump plate are not interchangeable with previous designs. Identify the model of the engine in addition to visually
inspecting the front cover and/or oil pump housing assembly before ordering replacement parts. Refer to Front Cover Design Changes on page 3 for identification information.

Note:

Do not replace or install a cover and/or cover assembly onto an engine that it was not designed for. Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3 front covers are not interchangeable.
