International DT 466, DT 570 & HT 570
SN Range: 2000001 and up
Description
A new piston cooling tube has been released that is lighter while increasing its structural stiffness. The old
piston cooling tube mounting bracket was machined from block steel (Figure 1). The new piston cooling
tube has a stamped steel bracket (Figure 2), an O-ring on the underside (Figure 3) and comes in a kit that
also includes a bolt. Do not use an old bolt with the new piston cooling tube. The new piston cooling tube
is a direct drop-in replacement and will be available in April 2005. The old piston cooling tube will continue to
be issued from parts service until supply is exhausted.
CAUTION: Make sure you use the mounting bolt that comes with the kit instead of the old bolt. Failing to do so may result in the bolt loosening over time resulting in severe engine damage.
The new piston cooling tube comes in two variations, knurled (Figure 2) and non-knurled. The piston cooling tubes with knurling are used on the DT 570 and HT 570 engines while the piston cooling tubes without knurling are used on the DT 466 engines.
The knurled and non-knurled tubes have different flow rates. Thus, it is critical to ensure that you use the correct piston cooling tube on your engine, or severe engine damage will result.
